Slain OFW in Singapore, Kin seek's PNoy Aid

TAGUDIN, Ilocos Sur, Mar. 14 (PIA) -- Relatives of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) found dead with her boyfriend inside a hotel in Singapore last March 4, appealed to President Benigno Aquino III to help them to find way to reinvestigate the case.
Rezzilyn Vinegas, 33, a native from Barangay Salvacion, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur; and her Bangladeshi boyfriend Mohammad Soman Lutfar, 22, were found dead in a room of Summer Hotel in Geylang, Lorong, Singapore last March 4, 2012. Both sustained stab wounds in the different parts of their bodies.

Matilde Lodia, Rezzilyn’s mother, said she wants justice for her daughter.  “I am appealing to President Benigno Noynoy Aquino III to assist as for our request for the conduct of re-investigation into the cause of death of my daughter in Singapore,” she said.
Rezzilyn’s cadaver arrived in her home town last March 9, 2012 and she was set to be buried on March 17, 2012 in Tagudin cemetery.

Rezzilyn, a mother of three children but all under the custody of her live–in partner residing in Quezon province, started to work as domestic helper in Singapore in 2005. Her children and her live-in partner have already arrived in Tagudin town to attend her wake.

For his part, Mayor Versoza requested a copy of police blotter from Singapore police concerning the incident that caused Rezzilyn’s death.

He also said that the victim’s cadaver had passed the proper autopsy examination upon his transport to her hometown.

“If we find out that there are doubts in the police report, we will immediately request for parallel investigation to give justice to the victims’ family,” he said.
Mayor Verzosa, who worked out the immediate repatriation of the victim’s cadaver to the Philippines, said the people of Tagudin are saddened on the fate of Rezzilyn in Singapore.

“In behalf of our people in Tagudin, I am extending our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family,” he said.

The mayor said that the municipal government had extended all possible assistance to be accorded to the victim’s family.
