The awarding ceremony was held at Nueva Vizcaya during the celebration of the Migrant Workers Day last June 6.
The new OWWA scholars are Diffun High School alumnae Rica May Antonio and Joan San Gabriel, Victoria High School’s Crystal Virly Tagacay and St. Vincent High School’s Melba Crisanto.
OWWA provincial officer Alma Chavente said they are among the 16 passers from Cagayan Valley Region: Cagayan-9; Isabela-1; Nueva Vizcaya 2.
Chavente explained that as scholars, they will receive P58,000.00 every school year provided that they will not incur failing grades.
“If a scholar has incurred a failing grade, he will not receive the assistance of P29,000.00 for that particular semester and if he or she got failing grades for two semesters, he will be dropped from the list of scholars,” Chavente added.
The CMWSP is a scholarship program extended to deserving immediate dependents of inactive OFWs or even the OFW returnees who intend to pursue courses in the priority fields in science and technology as determined by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The said program is being implemented by the OWWA in coordination with the DOST. (TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
