Shiela Mae Aguilar, OWWA’s Labor Communications Officer, said that the coalition is an interim OFW organization which started in 2011 and is now awaiting papers to be formally registered to the Department of Labor and Employment.
“COALU is an organization of active and returning OFWs and family which assists OWWA in providing quality service to clients, referring residents within their area that are in need of assistance, she said.
It also helps in disseminating information on the programs and projects of OWWA that would benefit active OFWs and their family including those who have been repatriated from problem countries with labor disputes.
The group also initiate their own activities for the masseurs and masseurs association of LU in the conduct of free massage seminars.
They also undertook free massage for the Association of Regional Executives in the region after their fun run events, Aguilar said.
Coalition members are composed of 17 OFW Family Circles (OFCs) from the municipalities of Sudipen, Bangar, Luna, San Juan, Bauang, Aringay, Agoo, Rosario, Naguilian, Bagulin, and the City of San Fernando in La Union. (MCA/MPA/PIA1 La Union)
