OFW found dead in HK, Kin get benefits

MANILA, Philippines – The next of kin of an overseas Filipino worker found dead in Hong Kong will receive benefits from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon said the family of OFW Rowena Gloria Gomez will receive P20,000 as burial benefits. The family could also possibly get P100,000 to P200,000 in death benefits.

The remains of Gomez arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport via a Philippine Airlines flight PR 301 from Hong Kong.

The OWWA chief said they are still waiting for the autopsy result from the Hong Kong police to determine the real cause of death of the OFW, whose body was found floating in waters off Shau Kei Wan on February 5 .
