MANILA, Philippines - Another batch of 27 overseas Filipino workers are expected to arrive today from strife-torn Syria, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Quoting a report by the Philippine embassy in Damascus, the DFA said the Filipinos, who availed the government's offer of repatriation, will arrive in Manila via Emirates Airlines flight 334.

DFA said the 27 Filipinos, all female, were temporarily stayed at the embassy’s halfway house while negotiations with their Syrian employers and with the Syrian authorities were conducted by the embassy officials for the issuance of their exit visas.
The latest batch included an OFW who was not able to board with the previous batch of Filipino repatriates last February 25 due to problems with her immigration papers, the DFA said.

Two of the Filipino repatriates were from the conflict-stricken governorate of Homs, the DFA added.
Crisis alert level 4 is currently in place over Syria and the mandatory evacuation of all Filipinos in the country is underway.
